California Codifies Rules on Lawyers' Use of Generative AI, Effective Jan. 1, 2027
California Gov. Newsom signed SB 574 on Sept. 30, 2026, making the state among the first to expressly regulate attorneys' use of generative AI, with the rules taking effect January 1, 2027.
